Luis Hernandez, better known as “Wicho,” is currently serving as Managing Partner of MassMutual Miami (formerly LINQ Financial Group), which is headquartered in Coral Gables with additional offices located in Weston, Ft. Lauderdale, Stuart and West Kendall. Over one hundred employees throughout the various locations call MassMutual Miami the preferred place of employment.
Wicho is recognized as a leading businessman in the field of financial services. He focuses his efforts on fulfilling the primary needs of corporations while educating families in the importance of planning for the future while protecting their loved ones. His career is highlighted by a personal dedication to empowering his associates to succeed and making a difference in their client’s lives within the areas of insurance and financial planning.
The recipient of numerous awards, Wicho has been honored with impressive accolades, such as Gold level agency by GAMA International and is a MassMutual Gold Bowl recipient in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In addition, he has created a family culture at MassMutual Miami, that was recently recognized by the South Florida Business Journal as “The Best Place to Work.”
His passion also spills into his community where he is deeply involved in a variety of leadership roles for several organizations. These include YPO (Young Presidents Organization), Orange Bowl Committee, Iron Arrow Honor Society, The South Miami Hospital Foundation Board, Metro Traffic Board, United Way Benefactor, Baptist Hospital Founder and APOLLO Bank Board, among others. Due to his passion in helping the community, Wicho also founded a charity golf tournament, “Wicho’s On The Green.” In its 11th year, the tournament has raised money to help organizations like Autism Society Miami-Dade Chapter, MS South Florida, the UM-NSU Card (University of Miami/Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism & Related Disabilities), Children’s Cancer Caring Center, Miami’s Lighthouse for the Blind, and many others. His tireless pursuit of giving back reached new heights in 2013, when Baptist Hospital recognized Wicho as the Philanthropic Volunteer of the year.
Wicho earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami (1991-1994), where he was a four-year letterman as a baseball player. After his college career, he played minor league baseball for the Mets in 1994 and then went on to earn a Master's degree in Industrial Psychology from Harvard University in 1996.
With all of these impressive accomplishments, he still makes time for his biggest pride and joy, his kids, Ari and Siena Hernandez. They currently reside in Miami, Florida, close to their friends and family.
